Anchor Glass Container Corporation a leader in premium glass container manufacturing for the beer, beverage, spirits, and food industries, recently partnered with Horwitz to upgrade their Minnesota manufacturing facility, located in Shakopee. This collaboration brought together two of Horwitz’s skilled divisions—Millwrights and Electrical—to play a key role in modernizing shop lines 12 and 21.

The project scope included:

• Reconfiguring the conveyor line for improved workflow
• Removing and refurbishing outdated inspection equipment for reinstallation on another line
• Installing new machinery to enhance production capabilities
• Extending the overhead catwalk to seamlessly integrate the updated system
• Demolishing existing power distribution systems, cabling, and the motor control center
• Designing and installing a new, tailored power distribution panel
• Implementing a VFD drive rack to improve operational efficiency
• Creating custom cable trays for streamlined integration and future scalability

The upgraded power system, now supporting new conveyor motors and advanced inspection equipment, has significantly enhanced productivity and reliability. Delivered under a tight timeline, the project leveraged Horwitz’s integrated services, enabling streamlined communication, precise coordination, and efficient execution. This highlights the strength of a single-source approach for tackling complex industrial projects.
