At Horwitz, Kyle has built his career by embracing new challenges, learning from those around him, and putting teamwork into practice. Since joining Horwitz as one of its first project engineering interns back in 2019, he has worked his way up to become a project manager responsible for major healthcare, education, and commercial projects.
From Intern to Project Manager
Although Kyle initially envisioned a career in machine design or product development, his internship at Horwitz during his senior year at the University of Minnesota Duluth introduced him to a more hands-on career combining problem-solving, collaboration, and field experience.
The internship allowed Kyle to explore multiple areas of the business, learn directly from project teams, and gain firsthand experience on the jobsite. After graduation, he joined Horwitz full time as a project engineer and completed the PE program before advancing to his current role as project manager.
Throughout his career so far, Kyle has worked on projects ranging from warehouses and higher education to more mission critical projects such as healthcare facilities. Today, he serves as project manager for the HealthPartners Lakeview Hospital project, one of Horwitz’s largest and most complex healthcare projects currently underway.
Growing as a Leader
As Kyle’s responsibilities have grown, so has his approach to leadership. Early in his career, he focused on mastering every detail himself. Today, he recognizes that successful projects depend on empowered teams and trusting others to take ownership.
Kyle encourages new project managers and engineers to stay curious and learn from those around them, even when a conversation may not seem directly relevant to their role. Some of his most valuable career lessons have come from everyday interactions with coworkers and project partners.
Beyond Horwitz
Outside of work, Kyle enjoys exploring restaurants and breweries with his wife and their Bernese Mountain Dog, Evy. In the summer, he can often be found golfing—although he maintains that the perfect round is 14 holes, not 18. During the winter months, he enjoys snowboarding and snowmobiling.
Looking ahead, Kyle is excited to continue taking on new challenges, building strong project teams, and contributing to the success of Horwitz’s projects. His journey from intern to project manager reflects the curiosity, accountability, and team-first mindset that help shape successful projects at Horwitz.
